ROLLED/FLAKED BARLEY FROM DEHULLED GRAINS, STEAMED AND ROLLED

Rolled Barley is traditionally dehulled barley grains, that have been steamed and rolled into flat flakes under heavy rollers. Prime Australian barley is a natural grain sourced from

growers who have declared their crops to be free of genetically modified organisms.

The process of making flaked barley involves cooking the raw grain to make it malleable then sending it through roller mills, which flattens the barley into flakes. Flaked Barley will enhance body, mouthfeel, and foam quality due to the presence of soluble protein and beta-glucans, all characteristics expected in a good Stout.

Flaked barley must be mashed with base malts in order to convert starches into sugars that the yeast can consume, we usually run flaked barley through the mill with the rest of your malted grains to break them up a bit more and increase the surface area and increase mash efficiency.

Recommended use up to 25% in a stout, 10-15% in pale ales and IPA's.
